Research Ethics

Important ethical norms guide the practice of research; learning and following these norms is critical to becoming an effective researcher. Many norms, such as prohibitions against fabricating or misrepresenting research data, and requiring citations of sources, span all disciplines. Some are unique to research -- including much social and behavioral science research -- that involves collecting information from, or using data about, human subjects. Duke offers an extensive range of resources intended both to guide and to enforce the application of appropriate ethical practices; check the links provided to access these resources.
