Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

GIS software is used to visualize and analyze data that has a spatial dimension.  Street addresses, lat/long coordinates, paths and regions are among the many spatial attributes that can all be handled as points, lines and polygons within GIS software. Duke libraries' Data and GIS Services, located in Perkins library, is the principal source for GIS support at Duke, but SSRI can also assist novice GIS users and recommend training resources.
